Breaking News: Documentary film wrap!

There's finally really good news for all those of you, who can't wait to see the documentary film we've been working on 24/7 over the last couple of months. Postproduction is almost wrapped and we'll put a 12 minute runtime preview online for your consideration.

The full 45 minute version will be available on DVD and ready to order within the next two to three weeks. Don't worry, we'll publish the link as soon as the shop's set up. We're also going to submit the film to various international documentary film festivals over the next few months, if only for the fun of it.

On the very first day of excavation on the north side of the sun pyramid, one of the workers hit on stone when removing the soil+clay layers. I asked him to stop and revealed this piece of stone under 1,5m of UNTOUCHED clay on top of the breccia blocks.
This piece of dark stone, fitting very well into a man's fist, has a strange shape:
1. TOP = knob-like, round, with chiselmarks, not polished
2. BOTTOM = square cut, polished perfecty, with sharp edges

looks like some kind of tool, more like a key or door handle.
Semir called it a decoration piece of the pyramid!

Just another piece of Sandstone?

Here is one more foto of "just another piece of sandstone" or a tool as some people see it. I picked it up from the stone heap (piled up when digging) on the base of the moon pyramid.
It fits smoothely into one hand and could be used as tool, like hammer or grinding device. There is a scar,like an edging on one side of the stone - the stone is not broken - which could result from a rope being tied in order to hold a handle.
It could as well be just a nice looking piece of sandstone, washed by the sea or river to get this peculiar shape.text+foto G.Lukacs

Just Sandstone Or Engraving?

On 24 June , I picked up a broken piece of sand stone, at the sun pyramid plateau next to the info hut. Not knowing whether there is an engraving or not I post it here for further discussion.
The stone looks like a tile = rectangular shape, 9x11cm, sandstone, one side carved, backside plain.
To me it appears as
1)a bear-like animal playing with a thorned ball.
2)Or the image of Europe, with the Hispanic peninsular, Italy and the Balkan.

More puzzling is the ball with thornes below the pawn of the (maybe) bear, which could be the sun (if it is a map). Actually a boat with the sun on it which travels the adriatic sea. The boat takes the sun from east, where it rises to the west, where it sets, according to mythology (the sunbark which is well known on ancient images).

1 question was: did you get it analized. No I did not go to any laboratory or institute,because of time+cost consuming. First wanted to know if someone else can see an image. Anybody interested can get that stone and do whatever analysis.

Stecak or cosmic disc?

April 24th, 2006 A broken stone was found on the plateau of Visocica hill by G.Lukacs.

It does not look like a stecak but rather like a drawing of planetary orbits with a hole for the sun in the middle.
The stecci (singular: stecak), the monumental medieval tombstones that lie scattered across the landscape of Bosnia-Herzegovina are the country’s most legendary symbol. Although a few are found in Croatia and Montenegro, the vast majority are found within the borders of Bosnia-Herzegovina – 60,000 in all, of which approximately 10,000 are decorated (and sometimes inscribed). Appearing in the 12th century, the stecci reached their peak in the late 14th to 15th centuries, before dying away during the Ottoman occupation.
Their most remarkable feature is their decorative motifs, many of which remain enigmatic to this day. Spirals, arcades, rosettes, vine leaves and grapes, suns and crescent moons are among the images that appear. Figural motifs include processions of deer, dancing the kolo, hunting and, most famously, the image of the man with his right hand raised, perhaps in a gesture of fealty. Calcium hydroxid: glue for stone blocks

Chemical analysis found calcium hydroxid as glue for the stone blocks on both pyramidal hills.It can be either natural or man made as well.
Natural Calcium oxid is a mineral found in feldspat and clay, in combination with water becomes calcium hydroxid.
Calcium hydroxid or hydrated lime ("Kalkwasser")is used today to raise the calcium concentration and pH value. e.g.in aquarium
But what for was it used when the blocks were shaped?
The foto shows a huge block covered with a vertical (not horizontal)layer of paste like glue. Or liquid gypsum that hardened. The block was found under 1m of clay on the very steep base of sun pyramid (before coming to sonda 5)text by G.Lukacs

Sacred Geometry

These maps are shown in the glass case on the plateau next to the info hut. Explaining sacred geometry between Visoko and Giza/Egypt. It shows a pythagorean triangle with ratio 3:4:5 divided up into 240km steps.
The distance Visoko - Giza is 1900km(1870 exactly), which would be appr.8 times 240km and therefore would not fit into the pyth.triangle pattern marked on the map.
We will check this theory again (thanks to bloggers who noticed the incongruency)

Symbol protects Pyramid

There is a butterfly shaped stone of orange color found and exposed on Visocica hill plateau. A symbol is engraved: a reverse S with a line crossing. This symbol is a well known and frequently used symbol for protection and strengthening of technical and architectural structures!
The Austrian team documented the stone by foto, drawing, measurement and dowsing.

Breccia or Cement? Sealed or natural?

Different kind of Breccia stone can be found on different locations of the Sun Pyramid. It looks like each variation would serve a different purpose.
One kind is smoothly polished, the next one is rough and rugged, the third kind does not absorb water at all (it does not even get wet).

What is it? Natural stone or ancient concrete? Naturally polished or rugged by nature? Sealed by man or nanotechnology produced by nature?

We ask all geologists to send us their opinion. Especially on the fact that Breccia stone does not become wet when poured water over it. How is it possible that water forms bubbles and just rolls off like milk on a hot oven when only centimeters away the same stone does not show any anomaly?

Scientist´s Conclusion "there is something great"

On 23 June, just one day before the scientific conference in Sarajevo the Austrian team accompanied the two geologists Dr.Amer Smailbegovich and Dr.Aly Barakat on their field trip around and up and down Visocica Hill.
We were protected by a snake finder and lead by Mr.Zombie with the machete as the terrain is steep, jungle like and dangerous. We turned every stone to investigate its compound, orientation and source of layer.

This is what Dr.Barakat told me as his personal conclusion after 40 days of study:
1.Visocica and Pljescevica Hill clearly show signs of being shaped by man.
2.Nature cannot form Breccia and sandstone into equally sized square blocks, neatly put together to fit four perfectly oriented sides of a pyramid shaped hill.
3.Man obviously shaped the stone blocks, polished them, cut in form and covered the sides of the hills.
4.Purpose, age and culture is unknown.
5.The hills were there and man shaped the natural breccia and sandstone layers
6.The Breccia shows unknown anomalies, similar to cement or concrete.
7.He found the Breccia quarry from where the stones could have been broken.
8.There was an earthquake appr.3000 ys.ago which destroyed the west side of Visocica hill. The stone layers follow the fault, which is a clear indication that the layers have been already there at the time of the earthquake!

Mystery behind the Wall

On June 19 archaeologist Nancy Gallou from Greece opened a structure at the sonde of the so called moon pyramid. The rectangular stone structure of 2m by 3m looks like a tomb. Today Nancy found a stone plate at the bottom of the possible tomb. Everybody is eager to see what is underneath. Is it another stone layer or is it a tombstone?
The Austrian team with Gabriela Lukacs was helping to clean the clay from the structure and found clay smelling from rotten organic material.
There is a brickwall of 2x2m towards the hillside which has not yet been opened. What is behind the wall? Is it a wall or a door? The bricks look much younger than the stones of the tomb. Have different cultures been using or building this place?
There is a mystery with this place:
- probes of the soil got lost or are spoiled because visitors dropped cigarette ash
- workers were told to dig behind the wall but by mistake were digging at the left side where nothing was found
- the egyptian archaeologist stopped the digging because the wall could collapse

Pyramids and Superstars

Footprints and Fossiles discovered

Fossiles were recently discovered on the stone blocks at the pyramid of the sun.

One of the stone blocks features a footprint-like texture, resembling the shoeprint which Neil Armstrong left on the moon. "A small step for man, a giant leap for mankind"?

Semir Osmanagic is back to Visoko.
Now excavations at the bottom of the so called Moon Pyramid has started and beautiful stone tiles have been found (see foundation homepage for fotos).
The latest sondage at the sun pyramid has uncovered even more and better stone layers. Documentation of the ongoing excavations can be found in bosnian and english on both home pages and blogs.

There is a new sensational post on the internet; a possible 4th pyramid in Maglaja, where the stone spheres have been found recently.

Land price has risen to astronomical heights.
Before the pyramid was discovered the price per squaremeter was EU 2.-. Now landowners ask up to EU 50.-/m². Even arabic investors have come to Visoko to check the possibility of building a hotel, it is told in town.

Breccia stone layers

This is an interview with Dr.Stjepan Coric, a bosnian sedimentologist, working at the Austrian head office of geology in Vienna. I showed him a piece of the breccia stones from the excavations of the northern side of Visocica hill.

Dr.Coric can you analize this piece of stone from Visocica hill?

This is breccia as can be found on top of Visocica hill, formed in the Myocene appr.7 Mill.years ago when the Sarajevo-Zenica plain was filled with sweet water. The surrounding hills are non volcanic but sedimentary. The breccia is rather rough with larger pieces of crashed and also round stones pressed together with sand as cement. Some parts show erosion from water diffusing through the layers of soil and grass which are covering the breccia.

When have you been to Visoko and the Visocica hill?

I have studied and cartographed the area in March 2006 before excavations started and could not find major beccia quarries in the vicinity. This observation leads me to the conclusion that the breccia was built by nature in situ, which leads to the next conclusion that Visocica hill as a whole is consisting of breccia. Except the plateau on the west side, which is consisting of sandstone slabs and came down from the mountains by a nature cataclism.

But these sandstone slabs are rectangular with 90°edges?

Sandstone comes in every shape and size and therefore cannot be defined as man made just by its rectangular or square shape.

Also the breccia appears cut and is placed on top of the hill surface in a 45°angle?

Nature can lift or shift breccia plates in any degree. We need to be very careful with our expertise.

When will you be back to Visoko for further investigation?

I will be back by end of June

What exactly will you be investigating?

1.Where is the breccia stone quarry?
2.Is there statistically significant appearence of certain stone slab sizes?
3.What is the size and shape of the breccia stone layers found at the 5 sondages?
4.What is underneath the breccia plates?
5.Are the tunnels natural caves or abandoned mining tunnels?

Can you give us a statement whether this is a pyramid or not?

At this point there is just not enough evidence to make a clear statement for a serious geologist. We need more data, more excavations, more investigations.
I would be happy if I could say this is a pyramid, no doubt, but at this point it is too early.

"And if it's not a pyramid, then we make one.", said a man from Visoko after we asked him what he thinks of the pyramid shaped hill.

It’s about time for really good news, finally, coming out of a country, that went through one of the most devastating wars in the second half of the 20th century. Many people have lost their lives and an entire country the faith in ever living with dignity again. Over 600.000 landmines are spread all across Bosnia-Herzegovina and the task of disarming them is about as daunting and equally difficult as the Bosnian peoples search for a better future.

When people return home from long journeys, they bring back little gifts for their families and friends. And Semir Osmanagic, after having spent the last 15 years researching ancient civilizations and pyramids all around the world, brought back home something very special. Not only he might have discovered a pyramid in Bosnia, which in itself is a symbol for energy, he also brought with him the very essence of life. Hope - for the people of Bosnia - and hope for the entire planet.

Civilisations are fragile objects. Often, when they reach their highest point, they fail. Even our own civilisation, over the course of the last few centuries, was many times on the verge to forever disappear from the face of this planet. The discovery of a pyramid built a long time ago, should remind us of the fragile status of our own civilisation. With discoveries like these, comes responsibility. The planet belongs to us all and we all belong to the planet. Civilisations come and go, technology advances and regresses, and people still lose the focus on things that really matter by feeding their egos with superficial desires. We need to finally ‘learn to learn’ from history, world history that is. Think about it - the average CD-Rom lasts a few dozen years, modern concrete lasts a few hundred years at best.

What will be left from our culture for future civilisations to discover?

People keep going to Visoko to help and be part of this unique and gigantic project. This discovery has already changed the image we all have from Bosnia.
There are great people working together hand in hand, with shovel and brush cleaning stones from aeons of dirt, bringing forth a culture with achievements we cannot even image, let alone copy.

No wonder the mainstream archaeologists cannot accept the fact that there is a pyramid under our feet. Built from scratch. With huge breccia stone-plates, neatly put together, over various layers of enormous stoneblocks. A pyramid of 220m height, being the tallest man made construction in the world – so far.
Made by people who did not leave us a written note about it.

The mainstream archaeologists claim their right to investigate the place for Illyrian remains, before this “wild excavation of Mr.O” is allowed to destroy the roman ruins and medieval walls.

Pls.come to Visoko and check yourself that everything is documented carefully. There is a live camera on site for your convenience! And once you are in Visoko pls. go to the local museum. Director Senad will be more than happy to show you hundreds of boxes filled with 24.000 pieces of archaeological excavation done by the german university of Kiel in 2005 in Okoliste near Visoko (see link below for further investigation). The boxes fill the hallway of the museum and need to be analized, documented, mapped, screened and put together. This is the time and place to show your concern, if you really mean it. At least 24.000 objects have been rescued for your qualified studies.

Labour Day Weekend

It is raining all weekend. Still visitors come by the thousands. Bringing cakes and fruit for the volunteers. 12.000 came last weekend, that is more than the Gizah pyramids see in one month!
Vispak sponsors coffee in a giant coffee pot, the largest in the world. And pyramid chocolate is free for everyone. A weekend house has turned into a caffe on top of the pyramid entrance plateau.

Miss Samra Koricic, a charming Bosnian lady, is the person in charge for the volunteer program. Pls. read her letter for volunteers, which I posted previously. She writes the daily articles into the foundation website (see link), but only in bosnian language. (see foto below: Samra and the coffee pot)

“I have a pyramid in my garden”

This is what people of Visoko tell a visitor. And more of, it is true. The authors of this daily report have been asked into neighbours backyards and shown the huge blocks of breccia-stone weighing 50 tons and more. These neatly cut and shaped blocks are just lying on the soil or sometimes covered by grass, but always visible. And cannot be denied. Someone must have cut them in a nearby quarry and shaped into cubic form – and transported to the site! But who and how? The Romans or Illyrians or medieval tribes?

Many of these gigantic stone blocks have been split in half and used as foundation walls for the Visoko houses. We could see the blocks used as basement foundations. Thresholds of the houses were built from the smaller slabs of the pyramid-steps and garden benches are still made of pyramid monoliths. Just walk through town and you will notice. People will ask you in and proudly show their stoneblocks.

the legend

Do you know the 500 years old legend of Visoko?
It says, when the turk soldiers came to Visoko, an old woman who lived near the hill of Visocica told them that under the hill is something "closed in two shells".

One of those shells is deposit and the rain irrigates it, the other is like an egg shell, thin and fragile, she told them also that nobody whose life is not devoted to guarding that what is under the hill shouldn´t live in the old town on the hill. And she also told them if the fragile shell is destroyed, it will destroy the valley and bring a disaster.

Underground Network of Tunnels

Initial excavations on 15 April have revealed a narrow entrance to what could be an underground network of tunnels.
On Friday, a team of rescue workers from a local coal mine, followed by archaeologists and geologists examined the tunnel, thought to be 2.4 miles (3.8km) long, going to the village of Ravne and ending next to the so called “fountain of the queen”. A natural spring with excellent drinking water. So I was told by Mr.Majid Avdicevic, who owns a house next to the well.
Local people all know the tunnels where they have played as kids. But thought of being medieval escape tunnels of the king`s fortress, these tunnels have never been excavated or even registered on maps. Now it has to be examined how old they really are.
The team found two intersections with other tunnels leading off to the left and right.
Their conclusion was that it had to be man-made.
"This is definetly not a natural formation," said geologist Nadja Nukic.
Satellite photographs and thermal imaging revealed two other, smaller pyramid-shaped hills in the Visoko Valley, which archaeologists believe the tunnels could lead to.
The Speleologist of the team, who has been in the tunnel, found a monolith and several other circular stones deep underground. He made a drawing which he showed me and hopefully will publish soon.

My name is Samra. I am currently working as a person responsible for foreign volunteers and I’ll be your contact person for further inquires.

We are grateful for your interest in a discovery of the first European pyramids, and pleased to inform You that there is place for You in this big project/archaeological adventure, we really try to find place and duty for everybody that shows interest for it. Good thing is – this is a start and there is enough place for everybody to come and visit and help in archaeological works and researches. Difficult reflection of the first phase of “digging up” pyramids, is that our donors are still not numerous and not covering our expenses in that amount that we could cover expenses of Your stay here (at least not for the first two months).
